Four ways to edit PNG colors
- Replace Color — the fastest PNG color changer. Pick a shade, choose a new one, and every matching pixel is recolored while edges stay soft.
- Remove Color — remove color from PNG files and turn it transparent. Great for wiping background remnants after a cutout.
- Fill Color — a classic bucket: click anywhere to pour a color into that contiguous area.
- Invert — a one-click color negative with transparency intact.
How to remove a background color from a PNG
Drop your file in, switch to the Remove Color tab and click the color you want gone — white is preselected since leftover white halos are the most common problem. Raise the tolerance until the remnant disappears: low values only catch exact matches, higher values also take the anti-aliased fringe around your subject. Download and you get a clean transparent PNG.
Tips for clean recoloring
When you recolor PNG artwork, pick the source color straight from the image by clicking it — the eyedropper reads the original pixel, not the preview. Logos and sprites usually need a tolerance around 15–35 so gradients and compressed edges are included without spilling into other shapes. Because every edit is recomputed from your original file, you can slide, pick and switch tabs freely without quality loss.
Frequently asked questions
Will my PNG stay transparent?
Yes. Every tool on this page preserves the alpha channel, and the result always downloads as a PNG so transparency survives.
How do I remove a white background from a PNG?
Open the Remove Color tab — white is preselected as the color to remove. Drag the tolerance up until the background disappears, then download. The cutout stays crisp because edges fade out gradually.
What does the tolerance slider do?
It controls how similar a pixel must be to your picked color to be affected. Zero tolerance changes only exact matches; higher values catch anti-aliased edges and subtle shades of the same color.
